Christmas in January
Colton had his Christmas program on January 14th. Yes, Christmas in January. The program was scheduled before school let out in December, but got cancelled due to weather. Colton is our only nephew, so we try really hard to attend most of his school and extracurricular events. Valerie had told us about it, and we never really responded back about it, but had planned on going. A few days before, Colton had asked Valerie to find out if "anyone" was coming to his program. I thought that was really cute.
It was a really neat program of the Nutcracker. Nick sat on Gpa Clipper's lap and was enthralled with the whole thing. He never made a sound or hardly moved. The program started at 7:30 p.m. so it was getting close to bedtime for Nick (I think that helped subdue him some).
Colton was a baker. Of course he isn't the tallest kid in the class, and shortly after he got on stage, his group was in back, so I got one picture of him in action! (he is the 3rd kid from the left in my ACTION photo :)
After it was all over, Colton came up in his costume. Nick didn't quite know what to think of Colton! We had a nice time, and are glad we got to go see the "baker" in action.

Virginia City...
On the 3rd day in Reno, we took a trip to the foot hills, where we went to Virginia City. On the way there, we saw wild horses. We couldn't believe that there are horses just roaming the countryside! Virginia City is a little old Western town, that hasn't lost it's charm. It is filled with wood plank board walks, old buildings, and people dressed in western garb! We had a fun time shopping and dining. We went to a bar called "The Bucket of Blood." This was my favorite stop. They had a live band, and lots of cowboys dancing. My Dad would have got a kick out of this place. It combined some of his favorite things - gambling- beer - and - cowboys (wearing real guns and garb)! It was really neat. We even got some t-shirts there. Later on that night, we went to downtown Reno. There we walked some of the casinos, saw the ice-skating rink and river, and stood in front of the famous sign. It was almost like Vegas, but colder! We had a wonderful trip, but we are so happy to be back home. We are so thankful to Eric and Iraida for hosting us and showing us around, and that our family could care for Nick so we could enjoy some couple time. Thanks so much everyone!

Fun in Reno...
So we finally got to take a little trip together. And thanks to our family, we got to enjoy a trip "ALONE." Nick stayed at home and split time between my parents and Dori. Todd and I had a little rough flying (all flying is rough as far as I'm concerned, since I hate it), but we arrived safely in Reno on Thursday January 8th. We stayed with Todd's friend (who was the best man in our wedding) Eric Reid, and his wife Iraida.
We set out the next morning, and oh the drive was so beautiful. Our first stop on the way to Tahoe, was to stop and get some ski equipment. After that, just a short drive to Heavenly....the ski resort. It is just as the name implies....You would not believe the view from the top. Todd had a tough time skiing, but was giving it his all. Next time, we are convinced he will be good to go. Eric and I went all the way to the top, and had a great time skiing the tougher runs (Eric and I have both skied before and Todd never has!) What a wonderful day, but man were we worn out when it was all said and done. Todd agreed to go again in the future, and I have no doubt, that soon he will be skiing along side me!

Sick Momma....
So Happy New year...I started out the year with stomach flu (diarrhea and nausea - no vomiting thankfully). I was so tired and so achy and just felt like a 80 year old woman with hip and leg pain. Todd was so good that he was home and could put up with my whining :) It lasted 2 days, and then I was better thankfully, for Todd's birthday party on the 3rd! On a good note, I lost 2.5 lbs. Yeah Stomach flu!
